Express 3D Scanning and Modeling of a Standard Indoor Basketball Court

We completed a high-precision 3D laser scanning and modeling project of a full-size indoor basketball court located inside a VASA Fitness facility in Chandler, Arizona.

The project covered approximately 4,500 sq ft and required accurate capture of:

  • All painted court markings
  • Full dimensional geometry
  • Wall thicknesses
  • Entry zones and glazing
  • Adjacent functional spaces

Due to the client’s remote location, our 3D scanning methodology significantly reduced travel time, on-site measurement costs, and coordination complexity. The entire project — from scanning to final delivery — was completed within one week.

Project Type: Measurement survey using terrestrial 3D laser scanning
Location: Chandler, Arizona
Facility: VASA Fitness – Indoor Basketball Court
Area: ~4,500 sq ft
Objective: Deliver a complete project-ready data package within a compressed timeline
Key Requirement: Accurate visualization and measurement of all basketball court lines

Key Project Challenges

1. Timeline & Cost Optimization

The client was located outside the city. Traditional measurement methods would require multiple site visits.

Our scanning approach reduced:

  • Travel time
  • On-site measurement duration
  • Project coordination overhead

2. Line Accuracy

Precise capture of all painted court markings was critical. The client required:

  • Full dimensional accuracy
  • Exact positioning of all boundary and play lines
  • Reliable geometry for further planning

3. Facility Constraints

Work was performed inside an active fitness center belonging to one of the most recognized fitness chains in the United States. Fieldwork was carefully organized to minimize disruption.
