INTERGEO: How Laser Scanning Is Becoming a Foundation for Management and Decision-Making
ScanM2 once again took part in INTERGEO, which was held in Munich this year. For us, the event is an opportunity to meet with partners, explore new equipment, and see where the industry is heading. This year, we also presented two of our own software products, both developed from our practical experience.

ScanM2’s Own Solutions: ERP and ScanTrack
The first is our ERP system. It helps us manage a large number of projects: planning team workloads, monitoring deadlines and finances, and coordinating contractors, equipment, and business travel.
We originally developed the system to solve the operational challenges we encountered as the company grew. Now, that experience is becoming a product that we are ready to offer to other companies in the industry.
The second product is ScanTrack, a system for assigning tasks and managing work directly within a 3D tour. A user can mark a specific location on the site, create a task, assign it to a responsible person, and track its completion. The person carrying out the task can immediately see exactly where the work needs to be done and what is required.

ScanTrack can be used far beyond construction. Potential applications include building operations, industrial facility maintenance, work coordination in manufacturing plants, and task management across warehouses and logistics facilities.
This approach makes it possible to coordinate teams and monitor results remotely while keeping every task visually linked to its exact location in the real-world environment.
What Did I Take Away From INTERGEO?
According to our estimates, around 45 scanner manufacturers were represented at INTERGEO. This shows just how broad the choice of equipment has become. Competition is increasing, more affordable solutions are entering the market, and the cost of entering the business is gradually decreasing.
At the same time, we did not see a radical technological leap among the solutions presented that would fundamentally change the way we approach laser scanning. The equipment continues to improve, but many of these changes are incremental.
In our own work, we already achieve accuracy of around 2 mm under appropriate scanning conditions. For us, further development is also about increasing project delivery speed, ensuring reliable results, improving data processing, and finding practical ways to use the data we capture.
We had a similar impression of mobile laser scanning. There are strong manufacturers in this segment and solutions designed for specific applications. We continue to test equipment and evaluate how well it performs in real projects. However, we did not identify a breakthrough at this year’s exhibition that would lead us to fundamentally reconsider our current approach.

The Key INTERGEO Trend: Tools for Better Decision-Making
For me, the most noticeable trend at INTERGEO was the development of tools that support decision-making.
Major manufacturers are building their own digital ecosystems. Point clouds, 3D tours, BIM models, and collaboration tools are being brought together into environments where clients can explore a site, discuss changes, assign tasks, and manage processes. This direction can be clearly seen in solutions from Trimble, Leica, and FARO.
The real value of captured data emerges when it helps people understand a situation and make a specific decision: what needs to be changed, where repairs are required, who should carry out the work, and how the result should be verified.

Where ScanM2 Is Heading
At ScanM2, we are moving in the same direction. We continue to study and test new equipment, improve our own processes, and develop products that help our clients manage their facilities and projects.
INTERGEO in Munich gave us an opportunity to compare our own vision with the direction of the market and define our next steps.
Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, explored our solutions, and shared their challenges with us. We look forward to welcoming you among our clients and partners.
